HPA lower school admission event Dec. 4
Hawaii Preparatory Academy is hosting an admission event for prospective students entering kindergarten through fifth grade and their families.
Experience Lower School is slated from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at the village campus. Lower school administrators, students and parents will share information about the curriculum and program. Visitors may also tour the campus, visit classrooms and meet teachers.

Student film voting closes Monday
Eleven short films created by island students for Hawaii Volcanoes National Park’s Digital Mountain Film Festival are ready for viewing and voting at youtube.com/user/DigitalMountain2012?feature=watch. Each film is approximately three minutes in length. Voting closes Monday. Submit votes to Park Ranger Kupono McDaniel at kupono_mcdaniel@nps.gov.
The fourth annual Digital Mountain Film Festival is slated for Dec. 1 at the Kilauea Visitor Center. The public is invited to a potluck celebration — bring a dish to share — beginning at 5:30 p.m. The festival starts at 6 p.m. Winners will be announced during the festival.

Anti-aging talks
begin Thursday
Dr. Shanhong Lu will give a presentation on anti-aging and regenerative medicine starting Thursday at 7 p.m. at New Thought Center in Palani Terrace. Dr. Sharon Olson, integrative osteopathic family practice physician in Waimea, will be giving a brief introduction of Lu’s anti-aging presentation that explain why toxins and stress are the two biggest hormonal disrupters.
Other presentations will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Waimea Events Salon, located in the Waiaka Guest House in Waimea, 3 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Lokahi Garden Sanctuary in Hawi and 7 p.m. the same day at the King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel spa. All talks are free of charge. The public is invited to attend.

Camera club to meet
Thursday at Donkey Mill
The Kona Camera Club will meet Thursday at the Donkey Mill Art Center in Holualoa. Doors open at 6 p.m., the meeting runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Those interested in photography are invited to learn more about the club and the art center.
Club members will showcase six of their favorite images and talk about their shooting style. The club hopes to meet new photography enthusiasts at the meeting. Photographers of all skill levels are welcome.

Coffee label, website winners announced
The 13th annual Kona Coffee Label & Website Competition awarded companies that market Kona coffee with top-notch packaging — whether it’s on the bag or on the Internet.
Taking first place among 29 entries in the label division was Puu Nani Farms of Kailua-Kona, followed by two second place winners: Makahiki Farms of Captain Cook and Wakefield & Sons of Kealakekua. Placing third was Kona Rising Coffee Co. of Kealakekua while the People’s Choice Award went to Ohana Harbor Coffee Co. of Holualoa. Piko 2 Piko of Kailua-Kona and Hualalai Harvest of Holualoa were tied for the Sponsors Award.
Nearly 25 coffee companies entered the website division and Kuawi Farm of Captain Cook took first place; Halama Farms of Holualoa earned second place; and Buddha’s Cup of Holualoa and Konaloha Coffee Co. of Eureka, Calif., were tied for third place. Rancho Aloha of Holualoa was tapped with the Sponsors Award.
